Austin Goldstein – Canine Behavior Specialist & Professional Dog Trainer
Austin Goldstein has been professionally involved in dog training and behavior rehabilitation for over 17 years. His journey began in 2008 in Arizona, where he trained his cousin’s black Labrador to retrieve underwater—a project that started as a hobby inspired by watching Cesar Millan. That hobby quickly transformed into a deep passion after volunteering at the Arizona Humane Society.
While volunteering, Austin met Snipes, a rescue dog labeled aggressive and scheduled for euthanasia. Recognizing the dog's potential, the shelter manager took a chance and allowed Austin to bring Snipes home for rehabilitation. Within just three months, Snipes was not only fully rehabilitated but had also become a registered medical alert service dog. This transformative experience solidified Austin’s commitment to learning every possible method of dog training, especially those focused on behavior modification, aggression rehabilitation, and advanced obedience .
Determined to help dogs deemed “untrainable” by others, Austin pursued extensive education and mentorship in the field. His first formal apprenticeship was under Bill Glatzel, a Harvard-educated applied animal behaviorist and dog trainer. Shortly after completing this mentorship, Austin had a chance encounter at a dog park with world-renowned trainer Jimi Livshitz. Their meeting sparked a lasting friendship and mentorship, during which Austin refined his skills using science-based methods such as operant conditioning and learning theory—entirely without the use of behavioral medications.
Over the years, Austin has successfully rehabilitated hundreds of dogs with a wide range of behavioral issues. His reputation is built on a consistent track record: every dog he has worked with has made significant progress—many achieving full rehabilitation. He firmly believes that with the right approach, there is no dog that cannot be trained.
In addition to behavior modification, Austin specializes in training:
Hunting Dogs
Protection/Security Dogs
Medical Alert Service Dogs
Austin Goldstein's mission is simple yet powerful: to unlock the full potential in every dog, no matter their past or perceived limitations.
